Northern Oaks Contracting is a Muskoka-based renovation and carpentry company. We are based in Huntsville, our team lives in the region, and we work across the entire District of Muskoka year-round.
We started three years ago with a stubborn belief that cottage and home owners deserve premium quality work and a renovation experience that actually feels managed from start to finish.
Today we deliver renovations, custom builds, and repairs across the District with a dedicated project manager on every job, fixed-price contracts, and weekly photo logs so every owner knows exactly what is happening on site.
We are not a seasonal operation. We work through the winter and plan around freeze-thaw cycles, so when spring arrives we are already ahead of the rush.

Who is Northern Oaks Contracting?+
We are a Muskoka-based general contracting and masonry firm operating out of Huntsville, building custom cottages and homes, renovations, additions, and stonework across the district and the Parry Sound area.
Do you use your own crew or subcontractors?+
Carpentry and masonry are in-house. Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and specialty trades are licensed local partners we have worked with for years, scheduled and coordinated by us. You get one point of contact and one invoice.
How do you handle change orders?+
In writing, before the work happens. Any change to scope goes out as a written change order with the cost and schedule impact spelled out, and you approve it in your portal before we proceed.
How do you keep clients informed during a build?+
Every client gets a portal with progress photos, the current schedule, estimates, invoices, documents, and a direct message thread with the team. Most of our owners are not on site day to day, so the portal is how we keep everyone current.
What makes building in Muskoka different?+
Shield rock, steep waterfront lots, seasonal roads, water access, septic instead of municipal services, and a freeze-thaw cycle that punishes shortcuts. Detailing that works in the city fails here, which is why local experience matters more than a low bid.
