Ready to start your Excavation & Machine Work project?

Tell us about the space. A real project manager replies within 4 to 8 hours with next steps.

How we approach it

How we approach every project.

Four things we do on every job, no matter the size. It's how we make sure the finished work still looks and functions the way it should years down the road.

01

We understand the space first

Before we quote or design anything, we walk the site, take real measurements, and ask what you actually want out of the space. The best projects start with a clear picture, not a guess.

02

We choose materials with the end in mind

Every material gets picked for how it'll look, feel, and hold up over years of real use. We'll tell you where to spend and where you can save without regretting it later.

03

We build it properly, not just quickly

Straight walls, tight joints, level floors, clean finishes. We take the extra hour it costs to do it right because it saves you the callback and it's the work we want our name on.

04

We finish what we start

One project manager from first quote to final walk-through. Punch lists get closed, the site gets cleaned, and you get a warranty in writing. No loose ends.

5yr
Workmanship warranty

All workmanship backed by a 5-year warranty in writing.

What's involved

Every trade in a excavation & machine work project.

We run the full scope or with vetted partners on a single contract. Here's what typically lands inside this kind of project.

Site prep

Stripping, staging, access matting, and tree protection before the dig starts.

Foundation digs

Footings, slabs, crawlspaces, and pier holes cut to engineered elevations.

Trenching

Water, hydro, propane, and septic lines trenched, bedded, and backfilled.

Rock work

Hydraulic hammering and splitting on Shield granite, with a stated allowance.

Septic excavation

Beds, tanks, and pump chambers excavated with a licensed installer on the permit.

Backfill & grade

Compacted backfill in lifts, rough grade, and restored access routes.

How we meet

On site, or on video.

Two ways to kick things off. Whichever is easier for you.

On-site walk-through

We'll meet you at the property, pull tape, take photos, and walk the scope with you in person.

FAQ

Common questions.

Do you do residential and commercial excavation?+

Residential and light commercial. Cottages, homes, shops, small commercial buildings, and property work. We do not chase large industrial or municipal contracts, which means your job is not the one that gets bumped.

What happens if you hit rock?+

We probe before quoting so rock is not a surprise, and the estimate carries a stated rock allowance. If hammering or splitting is needed beyond that, it is documented as a change order with the rate agreed up front before the hammer comes out.

Can you install a septic system?+

Yes, with a licensed septic installer on the permit. We handle the excavation, imported sand and stone, tank setting support, and final grading. The permit goes through the District of Muskoka.

Do you build cottage lanes and driveway entrances?+

Yes. New lanes, widening, culverts, and municipal entrance permits where the entrance meets a town or district road. We apply for the entrance permit as part of the contract.

Will you wreck my lawn or lane getting in?+

Not if we plan for it. We use the smallest machine that will do the work, mat soft ground, and repair ruts and the access route as part of closeout. That is written into the scope, not treated as an extra.

Do you haul away the spoil?+

Either. On most lots there is somewhere sensible to place clean fill and topsoil, which saves trucking. If there is not, we quote removal by the load so you can see exactly what that portion costs.

When is the best time of year to excavate in Muskoka?+

Late May through October is ideal. Spring breakup makes soft ground and half-load restrictions a real problem for float and gravel deliveries, and frozen ground in January adds cost. Winter digs are possible when the schedule demands it.

Do you need a permit to excavate?+

It depends on the work. Foundations and septic need permits, and anything near the shoreline or in a regulated area may need the conservation authority or MNRF. We identify what applies at the site visit and file it under the same contract.
