New gravel driveways, lane rebuilds, culvert entrances, parking pads, and stone pathways.
Cottage lanes in the Township of Muskoka Lakes are long, narrow, often steep, and shared. They also have to carry a concrete truck, a septic truck, and a delivery van in the same season, which is more than most of them were originally built for.
We build and rebuild these lanes with stripped subgrade, geotextile over soft ground, base in compacted lifts, a real crown, ditching where the lane cuts a slope, and cross-culverts at the low points. Widening and a turnaround usually pay for themselves the first time a truck has to back out.
New entrances onto a township or district road need an entrance permit setting culvert size, invert, and sightlines. We apply and build to that standard.
Gravel spread on soft ground disappears into it. We strip organics, place geotextile where subgrade is weak, build granular base in compacted lifts, and finish with a clean crush top that binds.
Water has to leave the surface and keep leaving it. A proper crown, ditching where the lane cuts a slope, and cross-culverts at the low points are what separate a five-year lane from a yearly repair.
A new entrance onto a town or district road needs an entrance permit, correct culvert size and invert, and sightline compliance. We apply, build to the standard, and get it signed off.
Stone-dust and flagstone paths get the same treatment at a smaller scale: excavated base, compacted granular, edge restraint, and drainage. That is why they do not heave or wander.

Yes. Shared lanes need the water dealt with first, then base and surface. We can scope the work so the cost splits cleanly between owners if that is how the lane is maintained.
Only if the base is built for it. We ask what traffic the lane will see before choosing depth and material, because a lane built for a car will rut the first time a loaded truck uses it.
Yes. Gravel, stone dust, and flagstone paths with a proper base and edge restraint, built to stay safe on steep, wet, rocky routes.
Fix the water. Crown the surface, ditch the uphill side, and put cross-culverts at the low points so meltwater crosses the lane instead of running down it.
All three, plus the smaller lakes in the township. A large share of our new builds and high-end renovations are on the Big Three shorelines.
The Township of Muskoka Lakes building department. Waterfront properties frequently trigger additional shoreline and site-plan review, so we build that review time into the schedule instead of promising a start date we cannot hold.
