Armour stone terraces that hold a shoreline and look like they were always there.
We build armour stone, dry-stack, and engineered concrete retaining walls to terrace Muskoka lots, stabilize shorelines, and create usable level ground on shield-rock properties.
In Port Carling that work looks specific. Port Carling is the centre of the Big Three lakes and the highest-value cottage market in Muskoka. We build and renovate here year-round.
Practically, it means we scope retaining walls around Lake Rosseau, Lake Joseph, Lake Muskoka access, the shoreline setbacks that apply to your lot, and a build window that fits the season. Permits and inspections go through the Township of Muskoka Lakes building department in Port Carling, and we file them as part of the contract rather than leaving the paperwork with you.
Geotechnical assessment, sealed wall design above height thresholds, and drainage strategy designed before stone is delivered. Walls that move are walls that were skipped engineering.
Stone sourced locally, set with a properly compacted base, draining backfill, and geotextile separation. Each stone hand-fit so faces meet without gaps.
Work below the high water mark requires MNRF, DFO, and municipal review. We prep applications, sequence in-water windows, and coordinate marine equipment.
Every wall is a drainage system that happens to look like stone. Weeped backs, perforated drains, free-draining backfill, and surface water tied to grade.

Yes. Port Carling is inside our regular service area and we run retaining walls projects on Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph through the season. We are based in Muskoka, so site visits, warranty callbacks, and supplier runs do not carry travel surcharges from out of district.
Structural work, additions, most decks, shoreline structures, and new plumbing or electrical need a permit from the Township of Muskoka Lakes building department in Port Carling. Cosmetic finishes usually do not. We confirm the requirement during the site visit and handle the application, drawings, and inspection scheduling under the same contract.
Any work below the high water mark almost always requires MNRF and municipal approval. We handle the application.
Send us the project details and we book a site walk in Port Carling, take measurements and photos, then send a fixed-price written proposal with the scope, allowances, and payment schedule laid out line by line. There is no charge for the visit or the quote.
Yes. Port Carling sits in the Township of Muskoka Lakes, and waterfront projects here often involve shoreline setbacks, site-plan review, and coordination with the district. We build that approval time into the schedule up front.
We build and rebuild the structures around the water: stone stairs, retaining walls, decks, landings, and boathouse-adjacent masonry, with the approvals the work requires.

Walk the site with us. We follow up with a fixed-price proposal, usually within two weeks.
