A gravel lane in cottage country takes a beating from frost, runoff, and delivery trucks. We build driveways and pathways with the base, crown, and drainage they need so they stay driveable through spring instead of turning into a rut every April.

In Windermere that work looks specific. Windermere is one of the original Muskoka resort communities, with a tight collection of historic cottages and modern builds along Lake Rosseau and Lake Muskoka.

Practically, it means we scope gravel driveways & pathways around Lake Rosseau, Lake Muskoka access, the shoreline setbacks that apply to your lot, and a build window that fits the season. Permits and inspections go through the Township of Muskoka Lakes building department, and we file them as part of the contract rather than leaving the paperwork with you.

How we do it

Gravel Driveways & Pathways done properly.

The base is the driveway

Gravel spread on soft ground disappears into it. We strip organics, place geotextile where subgrade is weak, build granular base in compacted lifts, and finish with a clean crush top that binds.

Crown and ditch

Water has to leave the surface and keep leaving it. A proper crown, ditching where the lane cuts a slope, and cross-culverts at the low points are what separate a five-year lane from a yearly repair.

Entrances done to spec

A new entrance onto a town or district road needs an entrance permit, correct culvert size and invert, and sightline compliance. We apply, build to the standard, and get it signed off.

Pathways that stay put

Stone-dust and flagstone paths get the same treatment at a smaller scale: excavated base, compacted granular, edge restraint, and drainage. That is why they do not heave or wander.

FAQ

Gravel Driveways & Pathways in Windermere questions.

Do you do gravel driveways & pathways in Windermere?+

Yes. Windermere is inside our regular service area and we run gravel driveways & pathways projects on Lake Rosseau and Lake Muskoka through the season. We are based in Muskoka, so site visits, warranty callbacks, and supplier runs do not carry travel surcharges from out of district.

Do I need a permit for gravel driveways & pathways in Windermere?+

Structural work, additions, most decks, shoreline structures, and new plumbing or electrical need a permit from the Township of Muskoka Lakes building department. Cosmetic finishes usually do not. We confirm the requirement during the site visit and handle the application, drawings, and inspection scheduling under the same contract.

How much does a gravel driveway cost?+

Gravel lanes are priced by length, width, depth of base, and haul distance for material. A short resurface is a modest number. A new lane through bush with clearing, culverts, and full base build is a project. We quote fixed scope after walking the route.

How do I get a price for gravel driveways & pathways in Windermere?+

Send us the project details and we book a site walk in Windermere, take measurements and photos, then send a fixed-price written proposal with the scope, allowances, and payment schedule laid out line by line. There is no charge for the visit or the quote.

Do you work on Windermere's older lakefront estates?+

Yes. Windermere has some of the oldest continuously owned cottages on Lake Rosseau, and much of our work here is careful renovation and addition work on properties that have been in the same family for generations.

Who issues permits for Windermere projects?+

The Township of Muskoka Lakes building department, with district and shoreline review where the work sits near the water.
