Cleared and graded building pad on a wooded Muskoka lot

Land Clearing & Grading
in Muskoka.

Clearing and grading decide how a property drains, how it is used, and how much the rest of the build costs. We clear lots, remove brush and stumps, shape building pads, and finish grade so water leaves the house instead of pooling against it.

Tell us about the space. A real project manager replies within 4 to 8 hours with next steps.

How we approach it

How we approach every project.

Four things we do on every job, no matter the size. It's how we make sure the finished work still looks and functions the way it should years down the road.

01

We understand the space first

Before we quote or design anything, we walk the site, take real measurements, and ask what you actually want out of the space. The best projects start with a clear picture, not a guess.

02

We choose materials with the end in mind

Every material gets picked for how it'll look, feel, and hold up over years of real use. We'll tell you where to spend and where you can save without regretting it later.

03

We build it properly, not just quickly

Straight walls, tight joints, level floors, clean finishes. We take the extra hour it costs to do it right because it saves you the callback and it's the work we want our name on.

04

We finish what we start

One project manager from first quote to final walk-through. Punch lists get closed, the site gets cleaned, and you get a warranty in writing. No loose ends.

5yr
Workmanship warranty

All workmanship backed by a 5-year warranty in writing.

What's involved

Every trade in a land clearing & grading project.

We run the full scope or with vetted partners on a single contract. Here's what typically lands inside this kind of project.

Lot clearing

Building envelope, driveway route, and septic area cleared in one pass.

Stump & grubbing

Stumps, roots, and organics removed from anything that gets built on.

Rough grading

Pad build-up, engineered fill, and compaction in lifts to planned elevation.

Finish grading

Topsoil, final shaping, and positive slope away from the building.

Swales & slopes

Cut swales, benched slopes, and shaped grades that move water off site.

Cleanup

Brush chipped or hauled, usable wood stacked, ruts and access repaired.

How we meet

On site, or on video.

Two ways to kick things off. Whichever is easier for you.

On-site walk-through

We'll meet you at the property, pull tape, take photos, and walk the scope with you in person.

FAQ

Common questions.

How much does it cost to clear a lot in Muskoka?+

It comes down to tree size, density, how much rock is in the way, and where the material can go. Light brush clearing on an accessible lot is a very different number from clearing mature pine on a slope with nowhere to stage. We quote a fixed scope after walking it rather than pricing by the acre sight unseen.

Do I need a permit to clear trees?+

Sometimes. Muskoka townships have site alteration and shoreline buffer rules, and work in a regulated area may need conservation authority approval. We confirm what applies to your lot before anything comes down.

What happens to the trees and brush?+

Usable wood can be bucked and stacked for you, brush is chipped or piled for disposal, and stumps are removed off site or buried well outside any future building or driveway area.

Can grading fix water pooling around my house?+

Usually, yes. Most pooling is negative slope at the foundation, a flat yard with no outlet, or a driveway pitched back toward the building. Regrading with a real outlet, sometimes paired with a swale or drain, fixes it permanently.

Do you seed or sod after grading?+

We finish with topsoil and can seed, or leave it graded and ready for a landscaper or sod crew. Whatever you choose is stated in the scope so nobody is guessing at handoff.

How long does clearing and grading take?+

Most residential lots run two days to two weeks depending on size, tree cover, rock, and how far material has to travel.

Can you work on a steep or rocky lot?+

Yes. Steep Shield lots are normal here. We use smaller tracked machines, work in benches, and often terrace with armour stone rather than fighting a slope that does not want to be flat.

Do you clear for driveways and septic beds too?+

Yes, and it is cheaper to do it in the same mobilization. Clearing the building envelope, driveway route, and septic area together saves moving machines back in later.
