Composite and cedar decks engineered for shoreline grade and exposure.
On a Muskoka lakefront the deck is the most-used room of the house. We engineer multi-level cedar and composite decks for shoreline grade, ice loading, and decades of barefoot use.
In Bala that work looks specific. Bala anchors the southwest corner of Lake Muskoka with one of the most recognizable shorelines in the district. We work the lake from Bala up through Windermere.
Practically, it means we scope decks & outdoor living around Lake Muskoka access, the shoreline setbacks that apply to your lot, and a build window that fits the season. Permits and inspections go through the Township of Muskoka Lakes building department, and we file them as part of the contract rather than leaving the paperwork with you.
Helical piers, pinned footings, or stepped sonotubes chosen for the actual rock and grade under your deck. Shoreline decks get ice-load reviews. Multi-level decks get engineered beam sizing.
Western red cedar for cottage tradition and patina. Composite (Trex, TimberTech) for zero-maintenance entertaining decks. Ipe and other hardwoods for premium long-life builds.
Glass and cable railings, hidden fasteners, low-profile rim joists, and inset lighting designed to keep sightlines open from cocktail height to standing height.
Sun-path studies, integrated planters, built-in seating, hot tub framing, and shade structure tie-ins so the deck is a real room, not just a platform between the cottage and the lake.

Yes. Bala is inside our regular service area and we run decks & outdoor living projects on Lake Muskoka through the season. We are based in Muskoka, so site visits, warranty callbacks, and supplier runs do not carry travel surcharges from out of district.
Structural work, additions, most decks, shoreline structures, and new plumbing or electrical need a permit from the Township of Muskoka Lakes building department. Cosmetic finishes usually do not. We confirm the requirement during the site visit and handle the application, drawings, and inspection scheduling under the same contract.
Composite if you want zero maintenance, cedar if you want the smell and the patina. Both are fine in Muskoka with the right detailing.
Send us the project details and we book a site walk in Bala, take measurements and photos, then send a fixed-price written proposal with the scope, allowances, and payment schedule laid out line by line. There is no charge for the visit or the quote.
